let's unveil some character art!

Hello dear readers.

I am so thrilled to have something very fun and exciting to share with you this month…it’s the amazing, gorgeous character art done by Mary Metzger for my preorder campaign!

I have admired Mary’s art for a long time now and she was absolutely lovely to work with. She captured Leo and Grimm perfectly in this piece and I’m so excited to finally be able to show it off.

Drumroll please!

BEHOLD!!!

Here they are! From left to right we have Grimm and Leo, with the Unquiet Wood in the background.

A few details in particular that I love…

  • Leo’s jaunty, hand-in-pocket pose, and how he looks right at you with the hint of a grin, like he’s having a grand old time.

  • The way Grimm looks annoyed, and tired, and done with Leo’s shit. 10/10 accuracy, no notes.

  • The Unquiet Wood, in all it’s beautiful, darkly whimsical glory! I adore how each element of the forest seems to glow in the moonlight.

  • The moths/butterflies, Leo’s dashing coat, both of their colored sashes (and the stitches on Grimm’s), and the burning spellpaper are all things that appear in the book. I had a lot of fun describing these details to Mary and she did a fantastic job bringing them to life.

You can get your very own Leo and Grimm print by preordering Sorcery and Small Magics from River Bend Bookstore!

Full preorder campaign details will be announced soon!
